Tips to get your kids to eat fruit and vegetables!

First Of All, Be Patient!

Kids do not see adverts for fruit and vegetable so some creativity and planning is needed. Don't despair if the response is slow, you can do it! Start small and work your way forwards.

We can break these ideas into several steps:

1. Creating a fruit & vegetable friendly environment

2. Engaging kids in the process

3. Making eating fruit and vegetables fun!

Creating a Fruit & Vegetable Friendly Environment

 

Out of sight = out of mind right? Keep fruit and vegetables visible and available at home so it becomes easier to take them to snack on rather than go for unhealthy food. This means also not having unhealthy foods readily available.

Get the support of other family members. The more working toward the same goal the merrier :-)

Do not insist your kids finish the fruit & vegetables you serve. Allow them to make their own progress.

Talk about why fruit & vegetables are good for you. 

Engaging Kids in the Process

Get them involved in preparing fruit & vegetables. Make it a learning experience. 

Look for different ways to cut fruit & vegetables, make pictures, shapes.

Ask your kids to help choose fruit & vegetables when you go shopping.

As them to help set up plates with fruit & vegetables in any way they want and set the table with fruit & vegetable snacks 

Making Eating Fruit & Vegetables Fun!

Let your kids arrange the fruit & vegetables themselves onto their Loveggie tray

Use toothpicks to pick up small pieces of fruit & vegetables. Makes it a lot of fun!

Think up names for fruit & vegetables. Choosing Adrian the Apple adds another dimension to getting used to fruit & vegetables!
